“Since 2009, my students have been learning about their “pen pals” lives in Buppala, a rural village in Uganda. Because they have interacted with the students before traveling, meeting them was incredibly meaningful. As a result, my students have become concerned citizens, activists, social entrepreneurs, fund-raisers, gardeners, and researchers. This is the most gratifying work I’ve ever done as a teacher.”
